Volunteer Information
VOLUNTEER APPLICATION PROCESS
New Volunteers
To ensure timely review and approval of your application, please complete the following steps as soon as possible and submit all required documents to the school where you plan to volunteer:
- Complete the Electronic Volunteer Application
Submit the 2025–2026 SJUSD Volunteer Application and upload a copy of your valid photo I.D. - Health & Safety Requirements
- Schedule a Live Scan fingerprinting appointment
- Submit proof of a Tuberculosis (TB) test
- Provide proof of completion for both TB test and fingerprinting to the district
- Volunteer Training
Contact the school directly to complete the mandatory Volunteer Training. - Final Approval & Badge Instructions
Once your application is approved by the district, you will receive an email with instructions on how to obtain your volunteer badge. Be prepared to have your photo taken.
Returning Volunteers
Returning volunteers are individuals who have been previously approved by SJUSD and are renewing their volunteer status for the new school year. All returning volunteer applications will be processed by the District Office.
If any items are pending, such as a TB test renewal, you will be contacted by the District.
Please note: TB certification is valid for 4 years from the date of the reading.*
Steps for Returning Volunteers:
- Complete the 2025–2026 SJUSD Volunteer Application
- Contact your school site to complete the required Volunteer Training
- Watch for an email notification once your application is approved, which will include instructions for obtaining your volunteer badge or sticker
*If TB certification renewal is required, the District will notify you directly.
Head Start/State Preschool Volunteers
- Complete the 2025–2026 SJUSD Volunteer Application and upload a copy of your photo I.D.
- Schedule a Live Scan fingerprint appointment and submit proof of fingerprint completion to the preschool site.
- Submit proof of the following health requirements:
- Tuberculosis (TB) test
- Immunization records for Pertussis, Measles, and Influenza
- Contact the school site to complete the required Volunteer Training.
- Once approved, you will receive an email notification from the district with instructions for obtaining your volunteer picture badge.
Student Volunteers
(Grades 6-12)
Please note: Student volunteer applications are processed on an as-needed basis.You will receive more information after submitting your application.
SJUSD Students:
- Submit the online SJUSD Student Volunteer Application (Available in August).
- Once submitted, your application will be reviewed and processed by the district for initial approval.
- The volunteer site you selected will then conduct a second review and approval.
- After both approvals, you will receive a final approval notification from the District Office.
NON SJUSD Students:
- You must print out the PDF volunteer application (Available in August) and begin the process with your school of attendance.
- Once you receive approval from your school, submit the signed application to the SJUSD site where you wish to volunteer.
- Your final approval notification will come from the San Jacinto Unified School District Office.
