VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

San Jacinto Unified School District (SJUSD) values our parents as partners in educating and inspiring our students.  SJUSD looks forward to reviewing your completed application and welcoming you as a volunteer in our schools!  SJUSD staff is confident you will bring a positive and professional attitude to this committed work. The valuable skills you share will enrich the lives of all our students and assist them with becoming both college and career-ready.  SJUSD procedures and guidelines are aligned to state legislation and board policy. APPLICATION DEADLINE for 2017-2018 school year: MARCH 30, 2018

 

 

Volunteer Description:  

 

All volunteer activities must be pre-approved by teacher/site administrator or designee and scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance
Activities may include:
  • Chaperoning Field Trips—must attend duration of field trip and agree to expectations for attending the trip
  • Chaperoning school dances
  • Assisting before, during, and after events
  • Assisting in the classroom with teacher-approved/assigned activities
  • Assisting in the office as approved by office personnel

 

Important Volunteer Application Deadlines 

Last day to apply to be a volunteer in 17-18 school year March 30, 2018
Early Bird window to apply for the 18-19 school year April 2, 2018 - June 7, 2018

 

  Volunteer applications will be made accessible on August 1st of each successive year.  SJUSD highly recommends applying during the Early Bird window.

 

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION PROCESS 

New Volunteers 

To ensure timely review of your application, please complete the following steps as soon as possible and submit necessary items to the school that is processing your application: 

 

  • Complete electronic Volunteer Application—CLICK HERE FOR 2018-2019 VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
  • Complete electronic Volunteer Training—Please see section "Volunteer Online Training Information" below for further instructions on accessing your account.
  • Submit copy of photo I.D.
  • Once the school informs you (verbal or email) that you have been approved by the principal, you may proceed with the steps listed below (If you do not hear back within two (2) weeks, please contact the school that is processing your application.)
  • Submit proof of Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Schedule a live scan fingerprint appointment.
  • Submit proof of live scan fingerprint completion.
  • You will receive an email notification upon final approval and instructions for obtaining your volunteer picture badge.

Returning Volunteers 

Returning volunteers are those who have been previously approved by SJUSD and are seeking their annual renewal. District office personnel will process returning volunteer applications.

  • Complete electronic Volunteer Training—Please see section "Volunteer Online Training Information" below for further instructions on accessing your account.
  • You will receive an e-mail notification upon final approval and instructions for obtaining your volunteer picture badge.
 
*If TB certification renewal is necessary, you will be contacted by the District.*
 
*In addition, Preschool volunteers are required to submit immunization records for: MMR, Tdap, Flu.*

Head Start/State Preschool Volunteers

 

  • Complete electronic Volunteer Application—CLICK HERE FOR 2018-2019 VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
  • Complete electronic Volunteer Training—Please see section "Volunteer Online Training Information" below for further instructions on accessing your account.
  • Submit copy of photo I.D.

New volunteers: for Assistance with the Application Process, please contact the school where you would like to volunteer or SJUSD Parent Center, located at 1000 N. Ramona Blvd, (951) 929‐7329 or District Office reception at (951) 929-7700 ext. 4200.

 

Volunteer Online Training Information

 

  • After you submit your volunteer application, a Keenan SafeSchools account will be created for you so that you can complete the online training. Please allow some time as this does not happen automatically. Personnel has to create the account first. 
  • The training can be accessed by visiting the website:
  • You will receive an email containing information on how to access you account. Should the email delay, please keep in mind that the email address you provide on your application will be the username for your account, and no password will be required.
  • 2018-19 Online training is underway. You will be notified when training is available.

ESL Students

  •  Submit necessary items to the school that is processing your application as follows:
  • Complete electronic ESL application—Application will be available August 1, 2018
  • Submit copy of photo I.D.
  • Complete Megan’s Law Background Check Form.
  • You will receive an email notification upon final approval and instructions for obtaining your badge.

 

Student Volunteers

(Students in grades TK‐12 Only)

 

Student’s can apply beginning August 1.

Please note:  Student volunteers will be approved on an “as needed” basis and are not allowed to chaperone fieldtrips.  

 

SJUSD Student Volunteers:

  • Complete electronic Student Volunteer Application—Application will be available August 1, 2018
  • Application must be approved by the Administrator of the student’s school of attendance.
  • If a student wishes to volunteer at more than one site, the application will be sent to one of the sites for general approval.
  • Parent/Guardian will receive an email notification with instructions for obtaining student’s volunteer badge.

 

NON – SJUSD Student Volunteers: (Cannot submit online application)

 

  • Complete the PDF version of the Student Volunteer Application—Application will be available August 1, 2018
  • Application must be signed by both student and parent/guardian.
  • Student must obtain signature of approval from their non-SJUSD home school site administrator first.
  • Submit for review and approval the signed application to the SJUSD school site administrator where the student would like to volunteer.
  • Parent/Guardian will receive an email notification with instructions for obtaining student’s volunteer badge.
