Families who enroll in the new San Jacinto virtual school should understand the following:

A.  The new San Jacinto virtual school is not a "program," it is a new school. By enrolling, the new virtual school will become your student's school by enrollment.

B.  Attendance at the new school is based upon independent study requirements, meaning students in the self-paced program must complete their assignments to earn attendance. Students in the teacher-paced program must have regular attendance in the virtual classes and complete his or her assignments to earn credit.

C.  Enrollment requires a completed application and a master agreement signed by the student, a parent/guardian, and school personnel.

D.  The virtual learning environment at the new school is available to all TK-8th grade students within the District.  Since this is an alternative placement setting, students with IEPs or Section 504 Plans will have their applications reviewed by their IEP or Section 504 Plan teams to discuss the student’s individual learning needs, and to determine whether the student can receive a FAPE in a distance learning or independent study program.  If it is determined appropriate, the new program shall be updated on the student's IEP or 504 Plan.

E. Students from both inside and outside the San Jacinto USD boundaries are welcome to apply. Once a student is accepted to the school, families will be provided additional information on the official district transfer process.
