We are proud to announce that Jacob Mathis, a 7th grade science teacher at Monte Vista Middle School, has been selected as a Science Finalist for the 2025 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).
Mr. Mathis was one of only five educators recognized statewide by State Superintendent Tony Thurmond for exemplary teaching in math and science. With 15 years of classroom experience and a strong record of leadership in curriculum development and mentoring, he has made a lasting impact on science education in San Jacinto.
As a finalist, Mr. Mathis now advances to the national selection process, with the potential to be honored in Washington, D.C. This prestigious award, administered by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, is the highest honor in the nation for K–12 STEM educators.
San Jacinto Unified celebrates this significant achievement and congratulates Mr. Mathis on his continued dedication to educational excellence.
