Carta a los padres - Información de aprendizaje a distancia

We believe that teachers and students will quickly build relationships and continue learning in new and exciting ways.  We have posted on our district website homepage a link to our “Distance Learning Information” for all parents and guardians, which also includes information about our student daily schedules and expectations.

Below you will find details on several specific topics that our families have been asking about:

Textbooks/Materials and Chromebook Distributions

Textbooks, materials and Chromebook distributions have already started at most of our schools, and will continue through the week (August 10-14, 2020).  Most of our schools will use a drive-through model to allow for social distancing. Site administrators have been sending out specific information for your child’s school, including the dates, times and procedures for pick-up. Information should also be available on each school’s website.

Student Classes or Teacher Assignments

Teacher class lists for students in elementary school were made available on August 7, online via the Aeries Parent Portal accounts.  Students in middle school (grades 6-8) were also able to see their class placements on August 7 through the Parent Portal accounts.  High School (grades 9-12) will be able to view their class placements on Wednesday, August 12.

Technology (Chromebook) Support

We are committed to providing every student with a district Chromebook to support them during Distance Learning.  Please note that for the safety and security of our students, all Chromebooks checked out from SJUSD are equipped with a content filter.

To ensure your child is able to access all online content presented during distance learning, we encourage you to have your child log-on their Chromebook into their Clever Portal account this week (before August 17).  Students in grades TK, K, 1 and 2 will use a badge to access their Clever Portal account (the badge will be issued with the Chromebook).  Students in Grades 3 - 12 use their student permanent ID number, along with their passcode #Pmmddyyyy (mmddyyyy=date of birth).  For example, a student with the date of birth February 14, 2013, would have a passcode of #P02142013 to log-on to the Clever Portal.  Most schools have issued Clever Portal log-on directions during the drive-up materials distribution.

If you have any trouble with the Chromebook or need a ‘hot spot’ for connecting to the internet, please contact your student’s school office.

Meals

This is the final week for our once weekly meal service that takes place on Wednesdays at San Jacinto, Estudillo, and Cope elementary schools.  Beginning next week on August 19th, Nutrition Services will begin a new weekly Grab-n-Go meal drive-up service on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  The meal service is now restricted to include ONLY SJUSD enrolled students, preschool - 12th grade. Under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, SJUSD is still able to offer ALL enrolled students a nutritious breakfast and lunch meal at no cost. Meals for your SJUSD students are to be picked up ONCE per week at a designated school site, regardless of the school of attendance. Households will receive a letter with their students’ identification cards next week, indicating the site they are to pick up their students meals from, their assigned day (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) and time (7:00am - 9:30am). Designated school sites are either Megan Cope Elementary, Estudillo Elementary, Park Hill Elementary or San Jacinto Elementary. Meal bags will include a week's worth of meals. To receive meals, student ID cards (included in the letter) must be presented to school site personnel. Students DO NOT have to be present during this Grab-n-Go meal drive-up service.  Please contact Nutrition Services at (951) 654-9371 if you are missing any Student ID Cards and/or if you have any additional questions or concerns.

We appreciate your commitment to your child’s learning during this process. Our schools and staff look forward to seeing the students when school begins. For more information, visit www.sanjacinto.k12.ca.us and follow us at @SanJacintoUSD on Facebook and Twitter.
