SJUSD COVID-19 Testing Lab Change Eff. 1/3/22

Per our Injury and Illness Prevention Program COVID-19 Protection Plan (CPP), SJUSD offers COVID-19 testing that provides an additional tool to support safe and successful in-person instruction and employee work locations. Testing is also offered  pursuant to the State Public Health Officer Order of August 11, 2021, for SJUSD staff, contracted employees or volunteers not vaccinated as defined in the order, for required weekly testing.

On January 3, 2022, SJUSD switched testing laboratories to InnerHealth Laboratory for COVID-19 testing.  There are several advantages to this change, including faster test results, reduced computer entries for test kit check-out, and daily (Monday-Friday) pick-up of test specimens by the lab at our District Office.

Another advantage for this change is that the expense for the tests will be processed directly to either health insurance plans (California's Senate Bill 510 requires health insurance carriers to cover the costs associated with COVID-19 testing) or for payment by the Federal CARES Act funds already set aside for this purpose (for those without insurance).

All staff, contracted employees or volunteers that require weekly testing will need to complete a one-time online registration form  for testing through InnerHealth Laboratory at this LINK, and include information on health insurance (if covered).  A (paper) registration card will need to be completed and inserted in every specimen bag, but no online scheduling or rescheduling will occur.  Our Contact Tracers that assist with weekly testing will have labels to assist with the registration card that is inserted into the specimen bag.

A separate one-time online registration will also need to be completed  for students (Student LINK) and parents/younger siblings/family members (Community LINK) that request testing. These links are universal, regardless of their associated school campus. Contact Tracers will assist with the required registration cards for the test specimen bags.

Thank you for your patience and support as we transition to a new testing lab that will really benefit our team and student families.  Employees that test weekly will receive an email reminder for the new online registration that must be completed by January 11, 2022.

We host a drive-thru testing clinic at our District Office (2045 S. San Jacinto Ave.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am-12noon, for staff, students and families - no reservation necessary, but an initial online registration (described above) is required.
