Daily Schedule Information
A Message for our Families
Our response to COVID-19 is based on county and state health guidance. The information being provided about our daily schedules and expectations for students is based on Governor Newsom's Pandemic Plan which required schools to open in distance learning based on the county watch list. While we begin the school year in distance learning based on the following daily schedules, we will make adjustments based on county health guidance when it is safe for students to return in person to our classrooms. Please contact your child's teacher and/or school directly if you have any questions about the daily bell schedule and the expectations for student participation in synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
Distance Learning is Different Than Spring
Distance Learning will look different for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Students are expected to participate in both synchronous and asynchronous instructional daily. Attendance will be taken and traditional grades will be earned based on assignments and assessments based on grade level and content area. While the format has changed from in person to distance learning, the expectations to provide rigorous, standards based instruction remains constant. Below are some of the key changes from distance learning in the spring to how we begin the new school year.
Sample Daily Bell Schedules
The bell schedules provide below are samples. The start and end time for elementary and secondary schools are constant. However, at elementary the specific times for each area may vary slightly by school or grade level. Our goal is to align as closely to in person instruction to help with our transition back to school, depending on county and state health guidance. For secondary students, the bell schedule for each class will remain constant, but the specific classes that require synchronous and asynchronous instruction may vary by school and grade level. Please contact your child's teacher and/or school directly if you have specific questions about their daily schedule.
Sample Daily Schedule: Elementary
The following schedule is being provided as a sample. Individual instructional blocks, brain break and lunch may vary by each school site and/or grade level. Students in Pre-School through grade 5 should have a balance between both synchronous (teacher and student working together) and asynchronous (teacher and student working independently) as established by each school and their teacher. Teachers are available for student support during asynchronous instructional time. The start time for elementary is 8:45 am, Monday through Friday. The end time for elementary is 3:15 pm, Monday through Thursday and 1:45 pm on Friday.
Sample Daily Schedule: Secondary
The following bell schedule is being provided as a sample. Synchronous and asynchronous time may vary by school or grade level. Students in grades 6 through 12 should have a balance between both synchronous (teacher and student working together) and asynchronous (teacher and student working independently) as established by each school and their teacher. Teachers are available for student support during asynchronous instructional time. The start time for secondary is 7:55 am, Monday through Friday. The end time for secondary is 2:50 pm, Monday through Thursday and 1:05 pm on Friday. Secondary students have a 10 minute break between each class to allow time for personal needs and for technical issues related to exiting and joining each virtual classroom during the scheduled time.
