Educating and Inspiring Excellence

August 2014

Welcome to San Jacinto Unified School District (SJUSD) where we educate and inspire all students to achieve academic excellence, personal growth and social responsibility through the implementation of our student-centered vision: Each and every student, preschool - 12th grade, college and career ready.  Our instructional focus is on Writing at all grade levels and across the curriculum because we believe Writing is the highest form of literacy and prepares our students for their future.  Whether our students enter a four-year university, a two-year Associate’s Degree program such as MSJC, a trade school, the military or seek gainful employment in our community, they will be prepared to write, think critically and work successfully with others.

I am honored to serve as Superintendent of our 9,200 students and their families, our dedicated, highly-skilled and passionate staff and the community.  I am proud to be part of the magic and synergy of SJUSD that has us transforming into the Disneyland of schools, where our Culture of Learning is characterized by a caring and safe school climate, collaboration, exciting hands-on educational opportunities, and engagement.

SJUSD is in our second year of districtwide implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  We were featured by Scholastic in a national video highlighting our success in pioneering the transformation of curriculum and instruction in English Language Arts through the implementation of Common Core Units of Study.  These units of study were developed from the ground up by teacher/principal teams at all grade levels.  You can view at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6dyRMpDUdU
